Key Note Speaker

Mario Cruz, MD is a pediatrician leader, a community advocate, and a skilled problem-solver with 20 years of experience serving marginalized communities. Dr Cruz serves as the Medical Director for Pediatrics at Jefferson Einstein Medical Center and was the founding medical director for Pediatrics at Philadelphia FIGHT, a Federally Qualified Health Center.
 
Dr. Cruz is a gifted educator and mentor who has been recognized with numerous teaching awards. His research and advocacy work has focused on practical solutions to improve screening for social determinants of health in primary care settings. Dr Cruz‘s advocacy career began at Albany Medical College as a medical student, where he learned about the importance of free medical care from inspiring faculty members. 

2024 Conference General FAQ

I am presenting a poster and/or oral presentation. Do I need to register for the conference?

Yes, all conference attendees, including presenters must register for the conference.

What is the cost of conference registration?

Registration costs apply to all conference attendees, including presenters:

August 2nd – September 30th:

  • General students: $200
  • General faculty: $250
  • International Students: $75 (same as above)
  • Bulk-purchase: 5 or more tickets, 10% off the total (Enter Code: Student5 at checkout)

There will be NO refunds within 2 weeks of the conference.

*There is a small processing fee with each ticket transaction*

Is there a virtual option for attending conference this year?
Unfortunately, no, there is not an option for virtual attendance or presentation at the SSRFC Annual Conference
Is the conference schedule available yet?
The precise conference schedule will be available on the Eventify App once closer to the conference! We will be posting a link to the final schedule once we have final counts on student presentors!

The 2024 SSRFC Annual Conference programming will run from Saturday, October 19th to Sunday, October 20th. The SSRFC Operating Committee Elections will take place on Saturday, October 19th later in the day.

Poster sessions and oral presentations will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Can I request that I present my poster on Saturday or during an early session on Sunday?
Unfortunately, we are unable to honor such requests at this time.
When will presentation times be released?
Presentation times have already been released via diret emails from our Research and Publications Co-Chairs Kim and Abby. Presentation times will also listed on the Eventify app once you register for the conference.
When does conference registration close?

Conference registration closes on September 30, 2024 at 11:59 PM PST.

Hotel room block reservations close on September 29, 2024. You may still book hotel rooms on your own outside of our hotel block. Our hotel block is limited so purchase ASAP.

When are elections? How do I run for a position on the SSRFC Operating Committee?

Elections will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 4:00 PM EST.

 

Visit here for more information on the positions available and for access to the nomination form. Self-nominations are encouraged, but each individual may only run for one position.

 

The nomination form will close at 4:00 pm EST on October 19, 2024 just prior to the Election Meeting. Each candidate will be provided a short time (~1-2 minutes) to speak about their background and their vision for the position at this meeting.

What information do I need to submit a nomination form for the SSRFC Operating Committee Election?

In order to submit a nomination for a position, please complete the Nomination Form. The answers that are submitted to this form will be posted on our website for voting members to read through to get a better idea of who you are!

What size should my poster be for the conference?

The size of your poster should be no larger than 48 inches (4 feet) x 36 inches (3 feet).

The 2023 Annual Conference of the Society of Student Run Free Clinics was held on October 21-22, 2023  in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It brought together over 400 healthcare professional students, advisors, and professors to network, collaborate, and learn about the latest research and developments in individual free clinics.
